CANON

canon: Original
background: Here.
canon point: Can play Alain either before or after Germaine's manifesto, Frater Germanus, has been published and ruined his reputation and political career. Will default to before, but if you want to play against him after, just let me know.
notes: Although Otozuki Kei is Japanese and a woman, Alain is completely European-French and male. It's how Takarazuka works, women play male roles.

PLAYER

contact: PM to this journal. [plurk.com profile] thewriteway.
active times/pace: CEST/CET player. Tries to be online at least during the evening my time, but it varies. More one tag a day player than anything, but if you hit me up at the right time, I can still boomerang a bit.
brackets/prose: Definitely brackets preference, but will match. I default to present tense, but can also match other tenses.
offensive subjects/triggers: Not any.

IN CHARACTER

physical affection: Go for it. He might try and use it against you or tage advantage of it.
physical violence: Let's talk first, but sure.
relationships: F/M, but I prefer gen.
psychic info: He has no shields or defences and is an easy read. Ask if there's more you need to know in that regard.
magical info: Nothing of note. No problem playing against characters with powers
medical info: Nothing relevant. He's in good health.
offensive subjects/triggers: Alain has an unhealthy obsession with keeping his sister, Germaine, in his household and nurses incestuous feelings for her that are acted upon, though never consummated. If this makes you uncomfortable, let me know and I will either avoid mentioning it or avoid tagging you altogether. Opt-out.

OUT OF CHARACTER

backtagging: Yes, please!
threadhopping: No.
fourthwalling: No.
not interested in: Smut. Shipping as a general rule.

Alain's backstory features incestuous feelings for his younger sister, Germaine ([personal profile] 1stpersonsingular), that are acted upon (forced intimacy and kissing), but never consummated. These feelings make him control all financial and most practical aspects of her life in an unhealthy way and their relationship is generally abusive (emotionally). If any of this is a problem for you, comment here with the journals you wish for me avoid on [community profile] bakerstreet and I'll do so, no question asked. If you still want to interact with the character, but simply want me to tone down or avoid mentioning his relationship to his sister, let me know and that's also a possibility.

- Setting: Provence, France, 1900-1905(ish)
- Character: Alain Sébastien Dupont, b. 1869
- Education & Occupation: Mentorship with prominent Marseille city councilmen. Has studied law in Paris. Works in politics.
- Talents and skills: Legal matters, finance, speaking publically and public relations.
- Summary: After their parents' demise in a tragic carriage accident ten years prior, Alain has kept his sister, Germaine, under legal guardianship. He's a politician in the city council of Marseille and wants to advance, but the negative attention she keeps getting for being unmarried and writing "unseemly" material works against him. Rather than trying to find a fiancé for her, he has forbidden her to publish anything more and made a contract with her publisher that they won't distribute her work any longer. Meanwhile, he is running for mayor in Marseille and is eventually elected as the youngest man ever to be in office. A couple of years after this, Germaine manages to get a Parisian publishing house to publish her manifesto, Frater Germanus, in which she reveals that he has made advances on her and is furthermore corrupt. The consequences of this publication are vast and he is eventually booted and divorced by his wife, Jeanne, ending up fleeing to Italy to start over, though he continues to try and ruin Germaine's reputation and new career from afar.
- Relationships: Married to Jeanne (née Bernard), though it's more a connection of convenience than one of love. They each use the other to advance as much as possible in the respective environments. Is known to have affairs with other politians' wives, daughters and sisters to further his own ambitions. Also frequents prostitutes.
